The Joy Woven Into Every Pair: A Look at Our Handmade Soft Sole Baby Shoes

Some things you make because you have to. Some things you make because you want to. My handmade soft sole baby shoes are definitely the latter.

Since 2010, I’ve been handcrafting these little shoes one pair at a time, tweaking the pattern with real-world feedback along the way. The result is a soft, flexible style with an elastic opening, cozy fabrics and comfortable linings for tiny feet.

These baby shoes aren’t the only thing I make anymore, but they still hold a special place in Milkweed. I get to choose fabrics I genuinely love, make them in small batches and send each pair out to find the right little feet.

Because they’re handmade in limited quantities, the available prints and sizes change as pairs sell. If you see one that feels perfect for a baby gift, shower present or everyday tiny-foot outfit, it may not come back in exactly the same fabric.
